Actor. He was an American character actor and director, who had a five-decade career starting in 1915 in "The Voice in the Fog," which was during the era of the silent movies. Although he directed at least twenty films, he would only direct two more movies after the start of sound movies. On a rare occasion, he would participate with writing a screenplay. He appeared in roles in over 600 films and television shows, sometimes in uncredited bit parts. Frank O'Connor had the alias Frank A. Connor, Frank O'Conner, Frank L.A. O'Connor. He used his initials to differentiate himself from actor Frank O'Connor born 1887 in Ohio, the husband of author Ayn Rand. To add to the confusion, the two men had a striking resemblance to one another during these early years. His final performance was uncredited and would be in the television episode of "M Squad," which aired on April 18, 1959 as "The Fight." Some sources have his year of birth as 1881, but his marker has 1882.
